Tim's Mum spend time meeting Mama Lucy
She was showing off her skills at making bricks
and demonstrating how she could make a fence
herself. Her husband had died years ago, and she
had 5 daughters. She was the matriarch of her
mbumba (family group).

Carting maize was always a yearly event. Mama Lucy front in while and black, would ensure our kids were safe and looked after.

Meals at Mama Lucy's house were a regular thing for special occasions.
She knew how to look after the men folk, her son-in-laws with Tim and boys.
This was the hut I sat in yesterday. Such a difference. |
